Lisacul’s Tidy Towns group work throughout the year to make Lisacul a beautiful and clean place in which to live. You can follow them on Facebook where they post about their activities, or you can join them on Wednesday evenings during the summer when they meet at 7pm at the crossroads to do an hour or two of litter picking, weeding, or tidying in areas around the village.
The Tidy Towns group are also the lead group on Lisacul’s Biodiversity Action Plan which brings together ideas and activities to ensure that our local fauna and flora and their habitats are recorded and protected. This year (2016) they co-opted the 365 project and asked contributors to photograph as many different species as possible throughout Biodiversity Week – you can see the results on the 365 posts – and asked the various clubs and societies to think about how they can contribute to biodiversity in Lisacul. The Active Age group are planning to make small herb planters at one of their next meetings, and one of the members has designed plant baskets using recycled materials, the CE team put together a massive planter for the crossroads and Foroige is working on bug hotels.
